FAQs

The first session is usually 60 – 75mins. This session is an assessment where I explain more about counselling/therapy and I ask you to share your current situation and what brings you to counselling. Together we agree on your therapy goals. Sessions after that are generally 50 minutes long.

  • This is very individual. If people are wanting to learn specific skills I usually suggest committing to 5-6 sessions close together initially, which gives you a good chance of gaining some confidence using these new skills. Other people like to meet more infrequently throughout their treatment and after it – perhaps more to talk through what has been happening. The aim is always to achieve the best for you in the time-frame that suits you.

  • I offer face-to-face sessions from my home, video consults and telephone. Where possible I like to meet people face-to-face at least once.

  • All sessions are $130. These are payable by internet banking or cash on the day of your appointment.

  • Yes, if an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice the session fee will apply to cover costs. I do like you to call me and let me know what the reason is.

  • No, I do not see children or young people under the age of 18 years.

  • No, I am not an emergency service. I only see clients in our booked times. If you are concerned about safety issues, please contact the police on 111 or ring the Crisis Resolution Team on 0800 920 092.

  • Email me with your details (Name, address, phone number and email address), what you are coping with and what you would like out of counselling. Please indicate the best way to reply to you and if necessary, a range of times. I will endeavour to reply to you within several days.

  • Treatment always comes first, as does your health, and I understand that often you need to change your appointment. So, if you do, please email me requesting a change as soon as you are aware it won’t work, and if possible days and times that would suit you to rebook. I will then contact you to discuss another time.
